Warm, adaptable and protective, this hooded insulated jacket is built for varied mountain conditions. With intelligent Insulation Type and controlled air permeable fabric, it excels in start stop activities, negating the need to change layers.

Our Verdict

Rab’s Xenair Alpine Insulated Jacket is Rab’s attempt at making a do it all mid layer for cold environments that eliminates the need to constantly remove or add layers.

The new dual density insulation keeps you warm when you stop for a break or stop for a bite to eat, but then starts to breathe once you start moving again – this jacket is best used in cold environments during high output activities such as ski touring or winter climbing.

The hood has an elasticated closure that works well with a  helmet and has an adjustable toggle at the back to cinch in the hood when not wearing a helmet.
